Again, I can’t say enough how much I love photographing a birth.
Perfect details in a wedding, complimenting outfits for an engagement session, and adjusting my lighting a million times for the right product shot… all that stuff is amazing but it doesn’t compare the first moments of a new family.
This one was a C-section, I wasn’t allowed to photograph the actual surgery but that was coolest, craziest thing I have ever seen. We were lucky to be in there with very relaxed circumstances and doctors and nurses reflected that in the best way possible. This was just another day at the office for them. And a plus for me the OR is very well lit.
This baby was a first on multiple levels, the first baby born in our friend group and the first grandchild on both sides so we had a party with us. Afterwards, I had a few people ask me if it was emotional for me to witness some of my closest friends actually become parents and the answer is, “not really.” I cried the day before listening to Ben Rector and thinking about how I accidentally photographed their engagement pictures what feels like AGES ago and now I was going to see their child born but when it came to being in the moment it was easy to relax a document the day.
Tell me what you think
