From Skirt to Scarf

Today started off very glum I woke up completely sick and throwing up constantly. So much of the day was spent feeling sorry for myself. Around afternoon time and watching Parks and Rec I began feeling a lot better. Also watching my cat do strange things like climb on the fridge made life more fun for my mom and I.
Then I started thinking about a conversation with my boyfriend’s sister-in-law the night before, it basically went like this….
Micah: Have you made the T-shirt scarf yet?
Me: Huh?
Micah: You repinned the braided T-shirt scarf . Have you made it yet?
Me: No… Have you?
Micah: No, I’m waiting for you to so I can decide if it’s worth it.
When she said this I honestly thought to myself. “Since when do people actually do the things they pin?” But this provided me the perfect motivation to hunt down my mom’s dinosaur of a sewing machine and get to work. Little know fact my mom is an exceptionally good seamstress and very crafty so back in the yesteryears when it was cool to wear stuff your mom made I had several outfits by her.
I used this tutorial and I thought it was very good for all types of learners and easy to understand. I used the t-shirt that I wore to the Texas A&M/ my first college football game because I accidentally shrunk the shirt but I didn’t wanna part with it and a maroon shirt from a past youth event.
Side note: Today Tyler and I have been dating for six months 🙂

I am pretty happy with this one

My mom apparently saw an opportunity for new accessories and brought out this wool skirt.
I don’t know if you can tell in the picture but as a skirt this was hideous. Luckily it still had the $12.99 price tag on it from Ross so no in my family had actually deemed it wearable. I cut lengths wise to four strips then sewed each of those lengthwise (much like the above tutorial) so we would have double the fringe on the bottom. Then I took the sets of two and sewed them together. I really like the way these came out and I had been wanting a black scarf so this was a great money saver.
So in my opinion this is a much cuter scarf than skirt. One scarf is slightly thinner than the other so I am currently trying to decide which one I am going to keep.
While I was sewing Pixie hid under the Christmas Tree her “Stop taking pictures of me glare” makes me laugh.
