New Imaging

So long story short Tyler and I were blessed by my boss to be able to go to Imaging USA.

This place was HUGE. I can’t lie it was extremely overwhelming. There was plenty of free stuff and and fun things to do with friendly vendors selling more photography related items than I knew existed. Seeing so many people who not only share my passion but are ten times better and more knowledgeable than me was humbling. Besides that it was a reminder to me that I need to be my own biggest fan when it comes to my work. There are millions of others with the exact same goals and dreams as me and getting lost in this growing digital world is easy.

While I was there I finally gave in and bought my first LensBaby.

So naturally, the last 24 hours has consisted of me taking awkward unnecessary pictures of pets and friends. It is a manual focus so I have to be quick with it but I am getting used to it and am obsessed with it already.

The exaggerated blur is the most obvious and my favorite part. Since it’s smaller (and considerably cheaper) than any of my others lens I feel comfortable taking it with me to start exploring lifestyle photography again.

Kayla is my go-to eye model
and Chelsea is my hair model

The blur can occasionally look “horror-movish” as not a scary movie fan I am trying to avoid this so I am taking the opportunity to do black and white again.

Here are my obliging friends putting up with me while I’m in honeymoon phase with this new lens.

Overall, I am pleased with this addition to my camera bag. I like the unique twist to everyday snapshots it adds. I probably won’t use it for photo sessions unless it’s someone I am very comfortable with because of the manual focus but I believe some of their lens have auto focus. If this one continues to be awesome I may be looking into one of them.
