I may have spoken too soon when I said the studio was the simplest change in our house. As of right now it was probably my office. Why are all the rooms that are “mine” so simple? Because home reno is not my thing and it’s in our best interests not let me get bored. I went with all white in here as well, for ease but also because the one thing I take seriously in my house is walls. I love gallery walls and I didn’t want the color of a wall to take away from them. Much of our house was still in boxes but every room had art and pictures hung. I guess I was hoping to distract visitors from the fact that they could barely walk through our dining room by giving them something to look at.
Also the before pictures are quite sad because photographing a completely empty house was boring to me. We really should have brought some friends to model in each room, then I would have been all about it.
The color was a dull taupe-ish, really it wasn’t awful but it made such a small space look even smaller. The floors were gorgeous and besides needing some cleaning were in great shape.
That small closet had the only carpet in the house… we have no idea why it was put there and our sister-in-law found that it still had hardwood underneath so she and Texan took it up. They are project-oriented people so that pretty much confirmed for them our families could be the next Chip and Joanna Gaines. I just agree and hope they forget.
I am grateful this house already had crown molding and trim even if there are three different styles of each in every room. Either no one has noticed or my friends are more polite than I give them credit for.
We taped off then covered the floors with that thick construction paper that I can’t remember the name of. Then primed and painted with the spray gun, making this ultimately a simple turn-around.
The white used in our house is called Ibis white from Sherwin Williams. It has the tiniest bit of red in that in can almost makes your eyes hurt trying to figure out if it is actually pink. The sun reflects off the floors and gives that golden/red that you see in this photo. Also this is the beginning of my gallery wall before I ran out of nails. This shelf changes daily but it is one of my favorite parts of the room because of all the fun stuff on it. Nothing has a particular place but I know where it all is. There is one member of this household that is “organized”, “Type A”, and “put-togther” And guess who asks me on a daily basis where something is? #marriage
Also that box peeking out of the corner? It’s is actually a stack of boxes I haven’t gone through yet.I have several old camera’s but this one that used to be my grandmothers is my favorite.
Workspace and brainstorming for my best friend’s Save-the-Dates.
Texan is very thoughtful when it comes to gifts. One year he made me this lamp out of old slides and it’s pretty much the coolest thing I own.
This note scribbled by dad is another thing I love. He bought me my first film camera off eBay sometime in late elementary school. Before he bought it he made this super cool ad to convince me it was the perfect one.
